I'm intrigued by the story that is hidden somewhere behind this awful prose.

Well, the first story was excellently written and nailed the balance of eerie/unsettling/atmospheric without being explicitly goofy. Brrrrr. *shudders*

I have to say that in this day and age of my reading life, any author who can still pull off a good narrative twist and surprise me is a gift, and Jay Kristoff is in that group!

Everyone. Should read. This book!

It took me all of two minutes to get my bearings and I'm already into this. gahhhh my heart is already being squeezed. I love this saga.

What a gorgeous book. The writing, the invitation into Danny's world and life memories, the good humour and gentle challenging of assumptions.

It's intriguing and I love Anja's practicality (T. Kingfisher remains unmatched in writing unfussy, unique heroines) but I feel a bit distant from the story.

Not the best writing, but Ina is so friendly and breezy and inviting; it's eminently likeable and inviting.

It's interesting and slow by turns, so I alternate between struggling to be invested, then reading a few chapters with rapt attention. Mixed bag so far.

I don't know - it's a strange mix of casual writing that's oversaturated with cheesy moments and pop culture references, and moments so poignant they startle me with their earnestness.

Sublime, deft writing and my heart is beating hard in excitement, sympathy, yearning, recognition, hurt and hope. What a gorgeous ride.

I've never read a series where the writing fits the character so delightfully. I shall miss you, Emily!

there's something about reading a book where you know the devastating fates awaiting all the characters but you're incredibly invested anyways. gahhhhh

I mean, I know what I'm getting when I'm reading a Hunger Games book, but still. Barely five chapters in and ouch, my heart.
