Really slow start... I couldn't get interested until about pf 50-100. Now I am hooked. I stuck with it at the urging of a friend. Hopefully it does not disappoint. Just started getting good!

I can't put the book down...maybe it's because I toured the tenement museum in NYC when I was there recently...through Axie's (the main character) narration, the reader is assaulted with the smells, sights, sounds (mostly unpleasant) and social infrastructure of NYC tenement living in the late 1800's.
