This is not gripping me. Maybe it’s just not what I’m looking for right now, or I’m not clicking with the audio but I am just not interested in this character or the set up of the park yet. I’ll give it a bit more, since King can tend to have slow foreshadowing before the story ramps up.

I’m having a hard time pressing play on this again- it’s good, but it is also so dark and I don’t want to learn more about what happened to Jenny :(

Cons: I think I’ve guessed the perpetrators, Hannah’s Mission Impossible letter delivery is a little corny

Con: repetitive plot, contrived in how the secrets are being kept for no reason (moms last words, not reporting the video)

Pro: multiple cast members audiobook

Con: writing style (repetition, verbose), pace is very slow
Pro: intriguing opening, characters are interesting

Pro: setting, some fun horror tropes brought up and used for the setting/characters, quick pace
Cons: feels a little boring (predictable? Cliche?), some ham-handed writing

Pro: tied in the mysteries of his last visit with Val nicely

I don’t understand what is happening in the present timeline. I liked the initial half of his last visit with (what’s her name, the director friend) but I don’t get the second half. I’m not sure I like where the modern storyline is going, but am leaving making an opinion until we learn more. The pace is great and ramping up nicely without losing details/feeling rushed

Con: audiobook repetition/re-reading of sentences happens too often.
Pro: escalation of the action/accidents in the filming of the movie, tense atmosphere, mystery of trial/Cleo

Pro: great haunted house buildup, love the split between the book and the narrative with Clio
Con: Aiden (romance why)

Pros: the book inserts from their moms book- a big selling point on this novel for me, the first glimpses of the house were scary and subtle
Neutral: Clio is not likeable which I don’t mind, but I also don’t find her compelling yet either

Pros: mystery is engaging
Neutral: the formatting of the audiobook. I’m not sure I like the script read, although I do like hearing the cast

Cons: I don’t care for the industry insider stuff from modern day. It doesn’t make me like the pov character, and therefore doesn’t feel like it’s building tension. I’d rather it get moving on the mystery.
