Background information is given to the reader about Nanking and how it was before the invasion. Additionally, other primary characters are introduced that create the conflict that results in horrors.

William C. Rhoden details the epidemic with many black athletes, although they might be rising through the ranks in college sports their superior will always be white, comparing this to slavery, african American slaves would work the white man at the top. Lastly refers to black athletes clueless of their history, unaware of the segregation that once occurred.

Willy who is playing a card game with Charley starts talking to the specter of his brother Ben. Who became much wealthier than Willy, and Willy before hand express regrets for not taking the opportunity his brother offered.

Gladwell touches on the story of Jewish immigrants(Flom, Borengenichts) who rose to the top in New York's law firm business and appearal industry because of cultural benefits.

Time of birth, family background all matter if you want to become crazy successful. Gladwell explains this by using Mort Janklow, and the termites born at before and after 1911.

Ending the chapter on the trouble with geniuses part two, Gladwell states that most successful athletes, stars, and scientist all gathered help from family background to get where they are now. A study mentioned in the book pointed out those who reached the top of the group (A group) came from families in which they were taught at a young age to speak for themselves and cultivate their talents.

Following the recent update perspective is changed on what exactly a genius is, Gladwell goes into detail on an IQ test and the different responses to a question that stimulated creative thinking. And the unfortunate story of Chris Lagan, a bright mind with a passion for learning but led away from higher education thru a series of unfortunate events.

The old man dislikes what sofya has done and treats her hsuband, as her husband has been at her command for a while now, and defends herself at her actions. Young couple leave service, to visit family mebers across the country. Sofya then ponders at why her hsuband could love her and the horrible land which was Bagrovo, and husband gets angry at wife. Alexandra (sister of husband) sets rats at brother and wife.

During the wedding alexyei makes sofya mad at a unknown commision of a hat , oddly enough. Sofya talks to father in law after marriage, and Sofya makes action plan but before efore talking to the rest of the family of her husband. And after her husband makes her mad he asks for forgiveness.

Some doubt whether or not Alexyei would have actually killed himself despite the approval when he hears the news he cries out of joy. Many held Sofya at a high standard but on the other hand, Alexyei was held at a low standard. Although both start planning wedding, he tells sofya to think it throught, she still says yes.

Both eventually fall in love for different reasons, although Stephan Mihaibvitch falls in love with her, he is at first shy which he is still respectful although she doesn't love shy guys. Stephan was discouraged for Sofya, And then somehow they plan out to get married, but parents are against it as she was not of noble descent. And Alexyei writes a sucide note which then out of fear is givien approval for marriage.

Young Bagroff leaves for military service but is then taken out as he was punished by wiping for walking on the street with his friends who were singing, which bothered the general stationed at camp, when is nobility should have spared him the punishment. So Baroff was transferred to a law office at the lowest class. And on the other hand another woman from a family, developed well

Wife discovers how he lived and when the husband is aware goes to her house and beats her, and punishs her for not handing over estates before spliting there own ways, and she is then recused by Grandfather, and days later the husband dies by poison which he then weeps for but everyone is confused at why she would keep at someone who mistreated her.

Gives information between what happened after the first year of marriage, Kurolyessoff went downhill as his goals changed from managing estates. Kurolyessoff would have violent tantrums but no violence was included. Ivanovna (Kurolyessoff's wife) received a letter alerting her of her husbands behavior, and questioned whether the letter was credible.

Discuss the marriage between Mihail Kurolyessoff and Praskovya Ivanovna and how it happened despite not getting his grandfathers approval, Stephan.

Elaborates on Sergei's grandfather, Stephan Mihailovitch Bagroff who traded with the Bashkirs by throwing a party, and with the property, he buys, and then migrates there with his slaves. Sergei also touches on his grandfathers' hot temper and his grandfather on his good days. And describes how Stephan had a strict rule to his servants and his marriage to Arina.

I love this chapter since it talks about our values in our relationship and how a healthy relationship is supposed to be. I compare it to my relationships with my mom, and friends. It's really satisfying the way Manson puts his little lessons.

Manson restates one of his important lessons after bringing up his travels across the world and what Russian society taught him about western culture. Mason points out that Western culture has much more economic opportunities and by this many are told to present themselves in a certain way rather than to be more brutally honest, as our Russian counterparts. Honesty is really the best policy.

In Chapter 6, Manson details thru examples in his own friends how, people are afraid to change, in other words, to do other actions that might not be within there image. And the fear of not doing our what we want makes us sour and bitter people.

Manson going on in chapter 6, makes a point that in order to have growth one must be able to fail. He supports this by saying the best experiences we have are the negative ones. And to most being uncertain of something is what hold us back to improve but asking is what makes us clear that certainty.

Manson explains that the way we take in emotions after a tragic event is dependent on ourselves, we can either at first dwell on those emotions which slow us down or use it as fuel. I can connect to this as for one whenever I'm upset I use my anger a source of fuel to make me better. Our values are a direct influence of our emotions, our values help us understand we what we find important.

Manson goes onto decirbing his experience after his ex-girlfriend cheated on him, while at first he took the pain horribly, drnkng, self loathing, he then started to reflect on the experience and realized that he too took might have led to the cause of cheating.

Adding onto the previous update Manson goes to summarize how the way you look at life aka your metric. Restates examples of people changing there own metric in their life to make themselves happier, and states bad and good examples of metrics. So we are ourselves can be happier and more fulled at life.

On this section that I read, Manson critiques his own metric and others(metric is a way how people judge their actions and whether or not they are failures in life). Manson also adds this point which I liked, if you are unhappy in life then you need to focus on your self-awareness. Why you are unhappy and what goal to need to reach for.
