Old school and cozy creepy. The writing itself is great, but you need to be in a quiet mood when you sit down with this book.

People who write intros for other people’s books, and decide to put a summary of the entire story, including the ending, need to be banned

This is an audio reread. I read half of this series in the 90s, and it was my first true epic series (as in size, not amazement). As an epic, it's pretty good stuff. As I'm starting to get bored with the modern grimdark adaptions of things, and so many lauded books that are straight out badly written (looking at you, Name Of The Wind), this is enjoyable. But I also know the never ending descriptions are coming.

Another promising genre that turns out to be extremely far beyond my interests. I don't care about these people and their pettiness, and it doesn't present me with much interesting and new to explore, beyond the introduction of the concept in itself.

I am endlessly bored by this book. Audio was a mistake, just making the whole thing even more whiny and frilly. There will be one or two sentences of wonder, followed by what feels like hours of wallowing.
