Reading this for a Media class, it is quite good in a lot of ways however I do struggle with Boorstin’s outlook a bit. I think he has a lot of really valid criticisms of Americans, but sometimes they get muddled with this idea that the problem is somehow democratization that I really have a problem with.

Parsing through this is a challenge and a joy, though not one I’m up for every single day.

This book has been quite good and every once in a while there’s a line that makes me extremely confident in Conor Fitzgerald’s skill as a writer, but at this point the book seems to be dragging on and I am dreading the fact that there are 80 pages left.

Um hello? I wish that was the cover of this book. Hey you know I really enjoy this and reading a book that references the city I’m in but I am ready to not be reading a murder mystery anymore.

This book is spiking my anxiety and so I have thus far hated the experience of reading it.

Harper Daisy is on page 207 of 368 of Cleopatra and Frankenstein
I was thinking this was quite frivolous for the first few chapters but as I get deeper in I am really noticing how Mellors changes style and tone when writing the different characters. I’ve read a lot of books that follow many characters at once and cleopatra and Frankenstein is definitely impressing me so far.

I really am enjoying the writing of this, but I’m not entirely compelled by the plot or characters at this point. Hoping this changes but right now I’m just chugging along in this book.

My dad has been telling me to read Henry James since I was a Freshman in High school and I’m just getting around to it now… yeah okay I get it. This writing is really good you were right dad.

I’m sure I’ll have more to add when I finish this but, if you’re looking for a book that is purely about the facts and statistical evidence of Israel’s violent occupation of Palestine (and Lybia and Egypt), connection to the US, and US opinions at the time, this is fantastic. However, there is a severe lack of emotion or connection with real Palestinians and I think that makes this kind of hard to digest.

I’m about halfway through this book somehow and I gotta say I have NOT A CLUE who is the perpetrator. Guess that really shows that the most popular mystery holds up. It’s always cool to read/experience works that were the inspiration to many things following it, and this is definitely one of those works.

This is a tough read I can’t lie, but I’m glad to do it. It feels good to go beyond the information being covered today about terrorism and look deeply into the past 80 years. I like how Chomsky writes a lot of the time, however some sections read like statistic/example after example after example which is definitely necessary in conveying the point but it can make his overall arguments hard to follow.

I don’t know who is anxiously awaiting my updated reading goal, but I have to say after the experience of rushing books to make it to fifty (which I did !) I think it’s time for a different type of goal, which is why I am instead going to try to increase my averag pages from 240 to 350. For some reason (probably one of the many glitches that arise when an app is not updated for an entir

I’m really glad I came across this and picked it up for some reason. This book is about French soldiers fighting in Algeria on leave in France for New Years. While that might sound super out of left field, the book feels incredibly relevant especially pertaining to war and civilians forced to participate in war they don’t agree with; Whether that be soldiers or taxpayers.

UggghhI’m sorry but I do not like this. I do like the writing style, and I think it’s a very realistic (not that I would know at all) portrayal of being kind of lost among small town Midwest bars without a solid car, job, home or family to get back to. But my god I just hate books about lonely men who treat women as objects to fill the void like they’re a goddamn beer. Also written kinda rapey too, just icky.

Such a delightful read, I never cease to be amazed by the way old books will just have a woman be way too excited to just go do some chores for a random man.
