10 books into the universe, this one dedicated to "fans of all ages...all religions and races and ethnic backgrounds" but only "both sexes". I believed that at least one two-spirit was acknowledged earlier in the quartets, But this book so far reinforces the strict male/female binary in humans which I do not expect because so many are born intersex or transgender.
