made a good dent in my book during my flight (from taipei to seattle) which is often the plan, but it actually happened this time!

i love reading on HK public transportation

i love it here

wasn’t learning much, prob since it’s a memoir and i already think about relationships all the time. stopped reading bc it became mostly about men. and why would i want to read about that?

it’s a quick, easy-going read

it’s ok

just like rooney’s other novels if they were bad

a man having an affair with a younger woman ends up strengthening his marriage.

love the way frances & bobbi dated for a while, but it’s referenced very casually or not at all.

many parts of the story felt enjoyable for me to read bc they felt relatable to me (unconventional approaches to relationships). others parts were hard to read for the same reasons (not taking care of yourself, questionable sexual experiences, hospitalization)

wanted to dnf but i guess i’ll push through to end the year off with a novel completed

.. maybe i am attracted to men sometimes .?

maybe i don’t love stories focused on romance, the narration feeling too dragged out.

also the first two chapters felt so rushed/forced trying to contextualize how daphne’s ex-fiancé is now marrying his childhood girl best friend so daphne is now living with the girls ex-fiancé.

this is making me miss sally rooney’s writing style.
