Gradually working my way through this one, it's hefty though. Fella wrote a lot of ghost stories.

I should have known a book by a very Catholic, very monarchist writer would be a struggle. It's interesting to see the ways he holds the clergy accountable, but allows the church as a structure to evade critique.

Biased as all heck but a good narrative of the main events.

Written by an American journalist very soon after, there are moments of jarring anti-Communist bias that make even the genuine sounding passages feel suspect. But still, a well written contemporary narrative of the events.

Five tediously detailed narrative histories of five different events, each split up and mixed up so you've forgotten the previous events after slogging through four other chapters of mini-biography. A uniquely terrible structure for a book that, if I could stomach finishing it, sounds like it has some interesting analysis tucked away way at the end of the narrative history that dominates.

Tired of the middle class banalities about the internet and modern life being presented as satire or insight. Not sure I'll make it through this one.
