Seriously, Moonchild was...indubitably "inspired" by Carrie. Not complaining, though, as a younger audience probably wouldn't be familiar with the film/s or the book. I think Rosemary's gift left her when she used it to do too much harm. It was no longer about protecting herself. It became about exercising power over others for the love of it.

Poor Edward.

Edward is a (melo)dramatic young man! It’s clear how young he is here.

He’s a crazy fast learner!

Very different in tone from the other books of Dolan’s that I’ve read. There’s a greater sense of energy and a more fiery sense of identity.

So that’s where David gets his miserable disposition from.

How will this book conclude??

Fosse & Braddock have a similarity in tone, a pervasive disgust and an odd sluggishness. Fosse is so long-winded! I think I’d just have thrown Gus letter away without finishing it. He’s a very dull, though bloodthirsty, individual. You could drive him nuts merely by excreting outside his front door. I think Braddock needs a detox and to cut out refined sugar.

I don’t know if Jedediah will survive.

I think he will die soon.

I think Ross only has one thing to live for now. I wonder if Fosse will have a stroke. Why wouldn’t Botha kill Wattana? I don’t think Ross is delusional. Time isn’t linear.

Could she survive this?

I did not expect that death! The mind is designed to perceive patterns, whether relevant or not.

Go on, Jedediah, finish him.

I have misgivings about Ross. I want him to be okay, but the vibes aren’t good. I want Fosse to die, but I also have misgivings about Wattana. I’m not sure she’s up to the job. I like Anneke, even though she comes across as somewhat predatory. David has a disturbing way of not taking good enough care of himself that makes me expect him to injure himself.

I don’t think Ross will survive.
