Yikes to the dog show chapter! The narrator admits Frankie spent the first 3 years of his life unable to be a puppy.
I forget which dog parent said it earlier in the book but I agree that breeding is eugenics for dogs. And dog shows are the most obvious and disturbing reflection of that
