Reds the epilogue - and I am ready to start. This book came recommended by a blogger friend I thought he UK. It showed up as a link in one of her monthly 6 degrees of separation posts starting with one book and linking it to 6 different books. She reads far more than I do, so I am going to to rust her.

Picked this up in an ELA class I subbed in and it’s interesting. I’ve read Schooled by Gordon Korman and loved it. This one so far so good, just getting to the good part of the big reveal.

Clay is on page 55 of 320 of A Place at the Table
I teach 6th grade science in a school that is a majority of south Asians most of who were born in the US. I am early in the oil but I can identify with one of the main characters as she seeks to navigate the tricky practice of compromise. It’s an art I believe Americans have forgotten. Getting the best of two things and growing as a nation(person). Life is complicated. Looking forward to learning more

Clay is starting Astroball: The New Way to Win It All
Great - really enjoyed the book. Of course, O root for the Astros but the lessons I learned from reading the book can be applied in teaching my 8th graders science and social studies - embrace the growth mindset and it’s the process not the outcome. Good advice.

Good - just finished chapter 5 - just another guy. Robinson is eloquent in his point of vie of how difficult it was in 1948 for an African American and how difficult it still is today...
