So so… the structure of the book and order of the questions is a bit odd.

It is striking how scripture pours out of Spurgeon. However, I still struggle with some of the tangential interpretations. I mean he’ll grab an OT narrative passage and blow it into a some spiritual application, but maybe that verse is just telling us what happened. Anyway, it’s never unbiblical, but it feels thin sometimes.

Attention is moral.

Interesting concepts, but I am not sure I am convinced thus far. I am curious, as well, as to whether Smith is rethinking any of this in light of the quite revival talk.

This is a very accessible read. So far I only wish there was more diagnostic help along with it.

This is a pre-read to give me some context for the summary, but I’ll just say—given the tediousness of the last chapter, consider me I excited about diving into Aquinas.

Excellent and accessible summary thus far.

Some helpful analysis and reflection, but I am not clear on how this is contributing meaningfully to the field of ethical method.

Super interesting, thus far, very unconvincing on the Catholic front. But interesting nonetheless.

Really enjoy it. Not sure what Sandoval’s theological camp is (Lutheran maybe), but I appreciate this book so far.

A good commentary though elements I disagree with due to the strong presence of the authors’ Catholicism.
