Lee Eddy is finished with One Simple Idea: How Positive Thinking Reshaped Modern Life
Horowitz is an intriguing and fair-minded writer. In this book, he traces the history of the idea of... well... Positive Thinking. Or maybe Christian Science. Or... religious science. Or New Thought. Or the Law of Attraction. Or... all those together.

He shows the radical political nature and fairly critiques it, while showing his cards as a believer. Honestly, I like his version of the idea!

I loved this.

Without spoilers, this is a wondrous story with questions of race, multiculturalism, racialized violence, prejudice from above and within minority communities, academia, neurodiversity, giftedness, peace struggles, the importance of myth and story, and so so so much more.

If any two or more of those grab your attention, then I wholeheartedly recommend this.

Thank you, Ms Okorafor. Thank you.

As someone who grew up and lived through the Satanic Panic (I had my first D&D box taken away!) I loved this book. The version of the panic in England was just similar enough to my USA version to feel familiar and just different enough to be more engaging.

And the music! First thing I did after finishing (besides wiping the ridiculous grin off my face--what a satisfying finish) was checking for a playlist!

A stunningly well-written account of an almost unintelligible tragedy. Cullen goes deep on info, being clear when he's reaching conclusions and when the evidence just isn't to be found.

So much of the narrative around the Columbine shooting turns out to be flat wrong. No Trench Coat Mafia, no real bullying, no targeting of jocks or evangelicals. Cassie didn't "just say yes." But the pain, the pain is real.
