If Murakami wanted to, he could write a psychological horror novel that would absolutely destroy me.

So far I don't really care. Maybe I'll get invested soon, who knows?

What does it say about me when the only things I seem to enjoy reading these days are Murakami books and political non-fiction? Am I just really boring now? What the hell is going on in my brain? Why can't I muster up even a little bit of interest? Maybe it's just burnout, but at least Murakami is here to keep me interested in fiction

Dr. Catherine Halsey be like: *shaking my head in disapproval while I conduct dangerous (often lethal) experiments on children so people know I'm still a good, ethical person*

A girl named Kelly was described as fast. It's really great foreshadowing, guys, because 10 pages later she ran really fast during a mission. Didn't expect that.

Honestly, tho, I'm getting invested in this story already.

The journey of my Halo book club begins (I'm the only one in the book club). This is all for fun and should be HAHA funny as I make my way through each book. I'll do about 100 pages each week. I'm going to have a rating system for these books that is independent of the goodreads rating. I plan on giving these books an HP bar that depletes. These reviews should be light hearted and unserious. Enjoy

These women are pretty focused on their breasts and eggs. More TERF vibes (BOO, Get off the stage). The book is cool when the breasts and eggs discussions are more centered on soceital perception rather than their place as a kind of "cornerstone" of womanhood.
I like the contrast between the younger woman and the older women so far. The younger woman is clearly questioning some logic/thinking.

This author has great style. The first chapter hit really hard (was good). It kinda just pulled me in instantly. Unfortunately a couple chapters in there's a really weird scene in a bathhouse where our main character looks at another woman and thinks "that woman might be a man." Some of the writing there gave me TERF vibes (very bad). Please don't be transphobic.

This protagonist uses EVERY opportunity to drop some kind of "gem of wisdom" about how the world works. I'm getting a little tired of receiving little lessons and prescriptive statements on humanity for what feels like every other sentence. I GET IT, YOU KNOW HOW THE WORLD WORKS.

This edition of Name of the Wind is really wonky. They renamed it First Binding, tweeked the story beats, and made the characters less engaging and mysterious. Pat, please undo this fanfiction and stick with the previous version. The original Name of the Wind was WAY better than this, Pat. The original wasn't 100% perfect, Pat, but it looks flawless compared to THIS, Pat.
