The main character is Starr, she does change over he course of text. She changes because after she was traumatized her personality shifted. She also has 2 different lifestyles, around her friends at school she acts preppy but atriums her family and stuff she acts not ghetto. She doesn’t do it on purpose that’s just how she has to live.

I wish the character would ask already the reason why the cop shot her friend and I think it’s important for this question to be answered because it’s the base of the story and I really want to know how it’s going to turn out after she talks with detectives.

Khalil got shot by a police officer because he was being disrespectful and than reached into the car to check on Starr. He died and now Starr has to manage to not get hurt as well because she was the only one who was there other than Khalil and the cop. She’s still trying to come with loosing her friend and getting over him dying right in front of her it shows her struggles as she’s facing her own struggles.

The protagonist differs from the other characters in the book 📚 because she is know as the innocent one the one who has never done anything. Than she has her first kiss and her place kind of changes and she begins to fit in.
