Today’s final reading was on the Spanish influence that lives deep in California roots. It mentions the extent of the influence and names countless cities that still have Spanish names; Santa Cruz, San José, San Francisco, etc. I loved today’s reading as it gave me insight on the Spanish controlled California, me being Mexican and having Spanish descent makes me feel happy.

Today I learned of the registration of land titles. It took forever for these to be applied to California but places like Australia and Great Britain had been using them for years. They provided organization and Utah was the last state to get them in 1917. I liked today’s reading as I like learning about history and the history of property ownership in California.

The book talks to the stories of how California came to be. So far I’ve learned of the Spanish missionaries here in California and why California has so many Cities with Spanish names such as Los Angeles. I also learned in chapter one the indigenous tribes that used to inhabit the area. I enjoyed the reading as it gave me information the history and let me know on the native Americans which few know about.

We get introduced to the countries situation where a survival game takes place called the hunger games. District 12 is one of the most poor districts and always ends up dying. I watched the movie and reading so far gives me a little more insight and detail on just how poor district 12 is. I like it so far.

Sir Henry Morgan lies in a bed looking at the wall when his wife walks into the room. Henry was sad knowing he was going to die and never see his wife again. As he passes away Vicar walks in and they begin to pray. I’m almost finished with the book and I’m sad to know Morgan died because he was one of the more interesting characters. I liked today’s reading though because of the little climax of Morgan’s death.

Morgan nowadays agreed to travel the Spanish’s coast with long lost buddy. Morgan was so intrigued by the stories he wants to see it first hand. I liked today’s reading because again it builds on the climax and prepares us for Morgan’s adventures.

We continue hearing the stories of meeting the Indians. They describe them as brutal savages and just how beautiful the indies is, full of nature and adventure. Almost seems like they’re planning to go again. I liked today’s reading because I thought it’s building up to the climax where I hope they all sail off to the indies and have an adventure.

We meet a friend of the family who had gone off to sea to explore various parts of te world. From the family’s perspective he looks very old and tired now but has plenty of stories to talk about like the Indians in the indies. I think the book really picked up and the stories of the Indians is really interesting.

We got introduced to the character, although only brief description was given on them. We know they're a large family living in a small house on a hill. From what the author describes of the house I can say they are poor . Slow start to the book but I hope it picks up the pace by the next chapter.

We are introduced to Tom Joad, a man just released from prison. Joad meets a man who agrees that he can drive somewhere. Joad tells him that he's fresh out of jail but that doesn't bother the man.

We are getting introduced to what the Dust Bowl is and just how bad it was. People are suffering in the mid west and are desperate for some help.

The story ends with a small group of them surviving and camping a couple miles outside the base just relieved its all over. We're left on a cling hanger as to what happens to them after the whole explosion because we must remember the others still remain in the huge spaceship!

Cassie and Ben have met up and teamed up to saved Cassie's little brother. They are about to escape from the military camp with a group of others as the siren goes off when they suddenly see Evan and he saves them by blowing up the military camp, sacrificing himself to save them

Evan admits to Cassie that he's an Other and only half human but was recruited by the others to help eliminate humans. Evan admits he ended up falling in love with her and now wants to help her but Cassie now wants nothing to do with him.

Ben and his group have figured out that the tubes are not only but fake instruments to make them think that people who don't have them are Others but they're humans just like them. The military are a part of the Others and are training them so they can kill off the rest of humans as if they were aliens.

At this point we've switched protagonists and now it's Ben, Cassie's crush from High School, and he's been recruited by the military to fight against the others. At the military camp they've injected a grayish tube into his neck which they say will help him distinguish who's human and who's not.

We see the first time an Other disguise themselves as a human. A so called military Coronel murders Cassie’s dad when he claimed he could help them and this is when Cassie escapes. In addition to that Crisco is also murdered by the fake humans.

Finally after weeks at the camp they have noticed more activity both of the Others and the army. What’s gets them excited and confused is when one day during the night a helicopter lands and hypes everyone up only to leave, rescuing nobody. This left everyone confused until the next day a school bus arrives to bring all the children including Sammy to a safer location, claiming to be what’s left of the army.

Cassie, Sam, and her Dad have now reached a refugee camp and have met with other survivors. These survivors have gone through what Cassie and her family has and this makes her feel better. Still Cassie wants her family to continue traveling in hopes of finding what’s left of the government.

We now know what some of the waves consisted of including a world wide EMP, massive earthquake, and a horrible contagious disease. We also come to find out that the disease is what took Casey’s Mother’s life.

Today Cassie decides to move from her position and start heading some place else. While she's moving she finds a group of dead bodies when she goes to touch them they're still warm. While gets up from crouching she's shot in the leg by an unknown thing or person, she didn't see where it came from.

We now understand that the Others do not want to help or enslave humans but rather just kill them all. We also got information that before the Others came to earth people were either runners (ran off for the hills) or Nestor’s (stayed in place and sheltered up)

I got introduced to the first character named Cassie who all I know about is that she thinks she’s one of the few humans alive and her family is dead. It gets straight into the fact she’s in an alien invasion and in “wave 4”
