I got a text only version for the kindle cheap. I'm sure the illustrated version is worth seeking out, but the text isn't boring. If you're the kind of person who would choose this book, it's probably not boring. Detailed and fussy.

Awful people who own pretty things and the people who aspire to be them. It's so bare in this book. That may be the author's "brand". He's more famous for another book, where he spilled the tea about prominent people he worked with. I might track it down, because it's about art, money, politics and rich and titled people being awful.

I'm genuinely annoyed that Bowie was mean to Gary Numan. Haters gonna hate, I guess.

My love of Roxy Music is getting a lot of affirmation here.

This Austrian guy wrote a book about American Victorian Architecture published in 1957 when everywhere was tearing these buildings down as fast as possible. The town I live in, Escanaba, was straight up victimized by mid-20th century demolition of Victorian architecture.

I usually slag off on the Victorian Era in general, but this guy really sells it. Great so far! Nice Black and White Photos.

Really not my thing at all. If I hadn't spent the money on it, I don't think I would finish it.

I found a 1982 Edition copy. Bought it! She'd been catering for six whole years! Every time I have had a boss demand I put food on porous materials, I have cursed Martha's basket collection. The 1982 version is maximalist and Martha is a 41 year old MILF.
This book changed how people entertained. The style of celebrations can be divided into pre and post "Entertaining" eras. Our fresh lilac-trimmed cake? Page 269.

Second time through the series. The incest going on in this series is super squicky. Though there is a scene that lampoons it, kind of? I guess it's the "If you're royal it's classy, but if you're poor it's trashy" thing? I don't know. It's weird and I'm judging myself.
