Pat Flewwelling is starting Monsters Among Us: An Exploration of Otherworldly Bigfoots, Wolfmen, Portals, Phantoms, and Odd Phenomena
I’m 16 minutes into the audiobook, and already I have to advise you: do not make a drinking game of it. If you take a drink every time she says “phenomenon”, you will be in the ER before the end of the prologue. Also, if you too reply “doo doo dee doo doot” after “phenomenon”, this book will be a perfect practical example of classical, Pavlovian conditioning.

Hey, readers! Ever wanted to sit through a twenty hour fire-and-brimstone sermon at a rowdy Catholic revival while your neighbours share salacious gossip and guffaw about orifices and bodily functions?

The Parson's Tale make me want to scratch my brain with a large and sharp letter opener in my ear. Dear reader, if you make it this far in the Tales, you've earned your stripes. Open your chute and jump free!

At this point, I'm only reading to find out how gruesome his death will be. To borrow from a great movie: "Is this a kissing book?" I was really hoping there was actually SOME FLYING IN A BOOK ABOUT PILOTS.

Pat Flewwelling is finished with Fortress of Solitude (Doc Savage, #23)
Bombastic, repetitive, and palaverous. Enjoyed every second of it. Finally, a decent full-cast production that actually banks on its own campiness and gets it right. Full marks.

Caution: borderline (probably not borderline) racist in spots, in the Noble Savage line of thought, but a product of its time.

"Unshaped a chair over somebody's head". You know this is going to be the guiltiest pleasure five-star ever.

Doc Savage is a Mary Sue - at least "according to gossip". Still a Mary Sue, though.

Pat Flewwelling is on page 177 of 264 of Goldfinger (James Bond, #7)
The continuing adventures of Bond v. A Rousing Game of Canasta, and its sequel, Bond v. Golf-finger. I never knew Bond could be this boring.
