As many reviews have said, there's hardly anything "extreme" in this book. I may be 70% through but I've been skipping parts. Some of the stories are interesting enough, but don't expect anything too gripping if you pick this up.

Enjoying this quite a bit, especially the parts that are more about the family's experiences with food production. There's a good dose of food politics, a bit preachy at times although I don't necessarily mean that in a negative way -it's passionate and has a strong point of view. Again, the best parts are the personal stories.

Hoo boy, not enjoying this as much as I thought and not what I expected. From the description and reviews, I expected some mix of philosophy, anthropology, sociology and storytelling, but so far it feels like rambling and frustrated musings on cultural failure and the environment. For 600 pages, not sure if I'm up for it.
