The way a simple sentence like "We want to make sure you have the most current information" can cause chills down your spine

It's so weird to use "Odysseus asks to be bound to the mast of his ship so he won't succumb to the temptation of the sirens' song, and steer his ship off course", without any mention of the fact that none of his crew need to be restrained because he's ordered all of them to plug their ears, and he could very much do the same thing! He wants to hear the sirens' song, he just doesn't want to suffer any repercussions.
