Not sure I will finish; looks like the whole second half is just about his saga with McCarthy. I saw the movie and am just not sure that I’m interested to read more than about 50 pages on that, not 300. First half was fine but thin on the areas I cared most about: his actual dynamic and interactions at Los Alamos and the development of the physics.

This one will be slow because most of the middle deliberately recommends reading one “devotion” per day. Phenomenal so far, each of the devotions has been profound.

I’m unlikely to finish this. It’s a very interesting approach to fantasy and a totally unique book, but I found the pace too slow to maintain an interest in continuing (and it’s a fairly long book). There seemed to be a determined effort to keep the magic implicit, unspoken, and always slightly offscreen. Valid style choice but didn’t keep me riveted.

I won’t be finishing this. The wild and wacky literary craziness is inventive but really not my cup of tea.
