Why not, “There you are, sire. You disappeared. I was starting to get concerned.”

Good gawd, every sentence had the word had. Sometimes even twice. It’s already making my eyes bleed.

I think I hate the word assignation.

Word count for the word “had” and/or “hadn’t” in the first 5 pages is 28. A quick search tells me there are 721. I’m 1% in and already annoyed.

First thoughts, the names of all the side characters in the friend group are so ridiculous. Tempest, Riot...really?

I’m already annoyed with the word “had”. She had done this or she had thought that. I searched and the word is used over 800 times. Seriously, find another way to reminisce!

Page 4 has the word “had” 12 times. So I did a quick search for that word and it appears more than 1000 times in the whole book. That is entirely too many times. You do not need to say “had” every time you speak of something that happened in the last.

I’m so confused. Is this a reverse harem?

Almost 25% in and I can tell this would be a good story if if wasn’t a complete info dump up to now. The MMC just now learned the MFC’s name. Absolutely nothing has happened. But we have learned about a few side characters extended family, so there’s that.

So at some point, the author decided to rename one of Tuckers brothers from Dayton to Dalton. How did no body catch this in the editing process?? It’s so obvious because his three brothers are pretty prevalent side characters hanging around and being talked about very much.

DNF. Nothing personal. Didn’t hate it. Lately it’s just been difficult to find a book that can snag & hold on to my interest until the end.

DNF. Still looking for another good shifter rejected mate/unwanted mate stand-alone or series but it seems nothing will ever be good enough to even finish after reading the Clayton series and then Bessa (on Wattpad) by Rachelle Mills. Waaanh 😩

Started skimming. It’s a bit too slow and anticlimactic for me. I like drama and there has been none so far, even though there have been a few chances come up where some good drama would have been interesting. Going to put this one down for now.

DNF @ 47%. The random lesbian scene with the h and her ex best friend was the start of this books downfall. I’m not in to F/F action anyway but the fact that it literally came out of nowhere and that the h was actually in to it had me hesitating to move forward. I did, but then more random shit came out of nowhere that made no sense.

Ok I’m only 13% in and already know this book will be shelved under best banter. I love it when I find books that include witty dialogue that adds to the story rather than being added as filler.

DNF the book isn’t bad but there’s really not enough drama for me.

Ok I tried but it’s just so monotonous, barely anything happens, all the h can think about is sex, most of the dialogue is the h refusing help from anybody who offers then eventually gives in or saying “Jack stop”, “Cam stop”, “dad stop”, etc. Every man she comes across either confesses his everlasting and overwhelming love for her and/or wants her body for some nefarious reason. It might actually be worse than book1

The entire book so far has read exactly like this: “A merry fifteen minutes pass in a heady buzz of exquisite hors d’oeuvres, smooth cocktails and silly laughter.”

Literally. There was an adjective for Every. Effing. Thing. My favorite was his “ambitious erection”.

But seriously. I got so lost in the overly descriptive yet super underwhelming text that I lost interest completely.

DNF. Everything about these characters is a mess. He’s like 2 or 3 years older than her, he’s 17 and she’s 15, they love each other and want each other so bad (I know this because it’s all they both think about) but even before there’s really any reason at all for that slight age difference to even matter, he’s all like, “I can’t have her until she’s 18”...even though he’s not even 18 yet. Ridiculous.

Dual POV going back and forth between past and present. The h is likable as a teen and as an adult. She’s quirky and awkward with a good sense of humor. But the H sounds like a whiny brat and a total douchbag. DNF.
