I stopped reading at page 100, picked it back up today 4 months later. Don’t think I’ll finish it, really underwhelmed. The banter was tedious to read, and the writing felt really wonky. Why tf must we know it took him approximately 9 seconds to spot her at the ball? What is that detail? Took me one second to notice it. I think I’m done for with rake mmc’s, time to Old Yeller them all.

Delightfully surprised so far! Funny, fun, a wild ride, and the romance is actually pretty sexy as opposed to marginally sexy but cute I more often see. Hard to believe she wrote Stormfire. Double threat.

exhausted, bored but overwhelmed?? cast of hundreds, main characters aren’t that interesting even though they’re doing everything. the rich setting and writing feel like too much to absorb between everything, no buffering between action, the extra details and plot-lines too much to remember. I wanna be done already…

writing is consistent, the middle was exciting, but the coercion scene was more uncomfortable than most rape scene i’ve read so far. really interesting how a scene so skin-crawling was thrown in the mix, the same feeling that I got from Katie being tied up. but one wasn’t treated the same as the other.

it lagged after a while, but now… it’s claws out and i’m sat! so much happening all of a sudden and it’s violent and tense and amazing. katie is a fighter!

Really readable, good moments, dialogue is great, but feel like everyone is just farting around now. Tired of the same locations. I enjoy the subdued sexual tension, even if it’s just a little bland.

not really connecting to the characters. why is the nearly forty year old absentee father setting shit on fire? it’s refreshing to see the accuracy of a hero and his bad decisions without much forethought though, but you might throw in an STD while you’re at it. heroine is… there. does stuff. I think my girl Rosalyn and the dead guy Henry are more interesting by far.
