Elizabeth Helen wasn’t earning any awards, but they were able to put a nice story together with original ideas and interesting characters and conflicts. But now this is reading like those dumb little AI vertical shorts.

I’m trying to keep an open mind but this book is making it very hard. ‘Mr. Dymon’ (barf) is a sexual deviant that takes zero accountability for his bad decisions and overcompensates what he lacks in common sense and decently with money and BDE. Quinn is a ‘cool girl’ that the author uses like a power drill to fix him.

This book is too long

This author prioritizes flowery exposition over directing the literal action in a scene.

I really like this author’s writing, she paces and builds emotional moments really well. But her imagery can be hard to follow.

Why is it so hard for me to get into Tia William’s books?

Although at times incredibly boring, this book is quite the literally feat. Its mostly three characters, Addie, Henry, and Luc, but its also Addie in 1714, Addie in 1780, Addie in 1800s, and so on. Each version of her learning and growing, determined to survive. And the narrator references future and past versions, then brings it back up in that time period!

I thought she would fall in love with the darkness in 2014 when he was mortal. But it seems like they already have a twisted enemies to lovers thing going on and that he may have turned human to not have a soul but have her love
