We read into Alicia's personal diary when she was still with her husband. How they live, what she does daily and everything. She tells us a glimpse of how her 'madness' might have come from her mother. Then presently, Theo gets his director to reduce Alicia's dose. Sets up a meeting with her. She attacks and tries to kill him. I think she knows Theo has done something. The board gives him 6 weeks to get her talking.

No idea what's that about. Later Theo tells us about how he meets his wife Katheryn whom he calls Kathy. They were introduced by their mutual friends and later they fall in love and get married. That's the end of Part 1. Although the Kathy part feels like filler content, I'm sure this will prove much more significant later on in the book. Because in thrillers, everything is of significance. Large or small.

So he get a job at the psychiatric prison called The Grove. That's where Alicia is held up. He meets a guy there named Yuri. Yuri shows him around, gets him introduced and everything. On Theo's request, Yuri he sets up a meeting with Alicia. Theo tries to talk to Alicia, but just like the last 6 yrs, Alicia doesn't speak a word. Not even a gesture. Later that day, Yuri advices Theo to stay away from Alicia.

So there's this painter lady named Alicia who murders her husband one night. Shoots him in the head 5 times. She is sent to a psychiatric prison. Now, there's this guy named Thoe Faber. He read about this murder and is immediately fascinated by the entire case. 6 years pass but Alicia hasn't opened spoken a word since the murder. Theo is as curious as he could be and decides to find out what this is all about.
