I have no idea what’s happening really. I know the basics, but I don’t know the reason for anything happening. The dialogue between the characters is always so confusing and cryptic. It’s a little draining right now to read. It’s dragging.

She can’t even keep her eyes to her own pack mates; she even drooling over Lola’s. 🙄😑 Lola doesn’t do that to Baby. Like stay in your lane!

She does nothing but be spoiled and have sex. I’m sorry, but she isn’t a child. This former independent grown woman has been reduced to a whining 4 year old with the libido of a rabbit. She can’t even blame it on being an omega. Rake is an omega, but he has a job, responsibility, doesn’t act like a child, and can keep it in his pants when needed. Sure, he has his heats, but Baby is in a never-ending heat.

I’m sorry, it I just gotta rant. I loathe Baby. Like if there was a character who was so utterly useless with zero personality, it would be Baby.
1. She never told Lola what happened!? Never bothered to tell her how her former captors and abusers really died!? Like ohhhh sorry I was too busy fucking to bother with that.
2. She is a glorified sex toy. That’s her only purpose in life still, even in this book.

Okay. I know it was a serious moment. Ugh I I died when everyone was reading the sister’s journal and Ranger was so furious and stress out, he started baking. And then he was like, “I need to get naked.” Like boy stress naked bakes. I can’t.

Teachers that were once suspects are now allies. Killing intent became a messed up form of protecting her.

But it didn’t take long for their attitudes to go from bullying to rapey real quick. Like no. She isn’t going to fuck you. You treated her like shit. I still think she let the other boys off to easy personally.

The group is back to trusting each other. That was quick.
The dad has the worst way of expressing his love. Like he goes about trying to protect her in the stupidest way. He continues to punish her in unfair ways.
Looks like there are some new girls on campus. And one of them just might be the female murderer.
She finally came out as a female to the school. The boys were shocked to say the least.

Seriously...worst dad ever. Like he is a total prick. Doesn’t think about her feeling ever. Doesn’t believe his daughter even though she is completely terrified someone is out to kill her.

What a start to a book. One of the men you considered part of your family is ripping a knife out of your teacher. You run away only to find a dead kid placed on a shrine. Suddenly you are chased by evil maniacs in hoodies and masks, only to run into another friend also wearing a hoodie. She doesn’t know where to turn. She is conflicted on whether she can truly trust these boys or whether they are playing with her.

All the boys like her. The twins have really latched on to her. Due to their past, they don’t connect often with others, but they have with her. They have a strong, untreatable bond now. None of the guys have tried to pursue her romantically, which I enjoy. It’s a slow-burn.

They assert that seaside is the right pack for her by claiming Austin is planning to be mated to her.

She has really made a place for herself within the pack. All members enjoy her presence, whether they live in the house or not. But an attack on the house changes things. Their goal was to kidnap Anna, but the reason or people behind it is unknown. Due to this, they finally have to go to the council to protect her. However, the council has the ability to change Anna’s pack forcefully.

She is expected to pull her own weight, and they don’t treat her overly daintily.

James was off to a rocky start, but the relationship isn’t bad. Their is respect between her and Austin. She still likes Cody, but he is quite busy. Caleb she hasn’t gotten to know enough. She is as thick as thieves with the twins now. They took her in real quick after seeing her personality. They are rambunctious with each other and complete pranksters. I like that they don’t give her special treatment.

The other extreme is the females flaunt themselves and are complete spoiled brats because of how rare they are. People from the seaside pack apparently have only seen the second, so they were wary of Anna at first. But after speaking with her, they realize she is polar opposite from those she wolves.

It seems a local pack picked up her scent and sent a scout in the form of a very handsome man. Cody befriended rather forcefully but not rudely before giving away that he was a werewolf. He took her back to the pack house to speak with the alpha, Austin. It seems there are two extremes with packs. One is the keep the females under lock and key and use them from breeding. If they escape, they hunt them to example.

Okay, Kelsey is a bitch. Like Anna is visibly exhausted and tired, and you throw her homemade dinner in the trash because you didn’t get to gush all about your new boy toy. Like bitch! Her grandmother just died, but she shouldn’t have to tell you that for you to act like a damn woman and not a pouty 7 year-old.

Evelyn was found dead. The person who was like a grandmother to Anna was murdered.

Anna’s friend Evelyn was a half shifter who took her under her wing when she realized she was a shifter without a pack. Anna has been adopted, so she had no one to help her through the process. Evelyn had been a great help, but she was also a runaway from a pack. Her former pack killed her 5 month old daughter. Ever since, she has been on the run. And it looks like they finally caught up to her.

Female wolves have become quite rare, making them prized possessions for a pack. Humans have very low successful birth rates for wolf shifters. Many half wolves that cannot shift will die during labor. It’s quite dangerous if you aren’t a full shifter. For this reason, packs have become barbaric towards females and treat them like slaves to breed them and raise pack numbers.

So the boys are basically outcasts except for Gansey? Like he could have as many friends as he wanted truthfully but he surrounded himself with three people who should’ve been alone.

The longer I read, the more questions I get. But so far none of them are being answered.

Okay, so Gansey is searching for a leyline because it could be a clue to help in the search of a missing ruler’s tomb. A tomb he plans on entering to wake an undead ruler who will grant him a wish? Like it sounds completely nuts. How the author describes him, his obsession, his insomnia, and everything else makes him sound completely nuts.

Blue helps with the church watch every year. Here, they record the names of all the spirits who show up. These names and people are ones in the local town who will die within 12 months. People pay good money to know such information.

But why was he looking for something supernatural? I’m just confused right now.

Now, on to the boys, the first appearance of the boys was confusing to say the least to me. I didn’t quite understand the dialogue, group dynamic, or what was happening. Gansey apparently stayed near a church in hopes of something supernatural happening, and this is where he heard his voice say his name and she heard blue’s voice, which coincides with what happened on her end.

She received a fortune when she was six. When she kisses her true love, he will die. Like oh yes, every child’s dream fairytale. So that basically squashed every hope of a relationship she could ever have quite early on, and she is adamant about never falling in love.

The beginning is a little confusing to me. I understand Blue’s half. Her whole family is gifted with the ability to tell fortunes. While they are never specific in detail, they always come true. However, Blue doesn’t have this ability, she also can’t see spirits like the rest. Her ability is that she can enhance the others’ abilities. She makes the fortunes more specific and allows others to see spirits.
