It’s so complex. It’s so intertwined. Although they could stand alone, the message is so wrapped up in the other that it’s just more interesting.

I’ve read this novel before. Yet didn’t quite grasp it. This time around I’m understanding it a lot better. Keeping track of all the symbolism in the novel and how they connect is proving to be a job of its own.

Just finished the first act. Lots of religion, financial, education, patriarchy/feminist issues at hand. The generational and gender differences take a toll in how the family views those issues. The issue of the play is the future of the check the family will receive. However the huge question mark is Ruth.

Interesting. I’ve reached the fourth person Eddie meets. And as he meets more people he gets older. However, he fails to fully take in the scope of why he’s meeting these people, or any people at that. He doesn’t quite seems to understand what the point of meeting anyone is. He’s met the blue man, captain, old lady, and his wife. Interestingly the author challenges our idea of what heaven is or afterlife.
