Yesss! I just can’t hold off on this read any longer. I was planning to save it for next year because of a challenge, but let’s be honest, I’m definitely not finishing that. So I might as well dive into this series now. My sister and I love it, and getting to discuss it together is just the best!

After 2 stressful weeks, I can finally go back into reading this masterpiece.

This is a reread for 25-in-25.
I forgot how addictive the writing of Tolkien is... ugh I love this so much, it's such a perfect winter story.

Finally, something mildly exciting is happening. Is it worth it, though? Probably not, it’ll likely fall apart in the next chapters. But who knows, maybe I’ll be proven wrong and end up giving it three stars. For a brief moment, though, I actually saw Dune as a shallow little shell, I’d say it reads more like Katniss Everdeen stranded in a Dune setting.

I thought this was going to help me, cuz it's short and less brain consuming but this has just aggravated my reading slump from how uninterested I'm in this... 😑

trying to be "sexy" but it's just awkward and over-the-top

😂 I die every time Tamlin’s described with wolf-like features and a shapeshifting beast form, yet they say he’s “just a fae.” Dude, it’s beastkin to the core, screaming from every page. I can’t wrap my head around how people find those furry-adjacent traits attractive, especially how they’re described. I’m convinced Sarah Maas lowkey slipped in some furry kink, without it being explicit on page.

I understand why some readers might enjoy this if they haven’t read widely or are reading for entertainment, but I don’t need to explain how romanticizing Stockholm syndrome is harmful, specially for younger crowds. But I’ll need to see how the Stockholm syndrome elements are handled before forming a full opinion.

Jules how much I have missed you! ♡ I'm hoping this is better than the 2nd instalment, I missed this world so much and this is a bittersweet feeling knowing I'm finally finishing this series, while I wait for the 3rd season of Silo to come out! I don't want it to end.

ngl I can already sense this might not be for me... the beginning is looking like Cinderella from Disney with Feyre being the "ugly" sister/cinderella and I feel like this is going to turn quickly into a Beauty & The Beast retelling, but make it fairy... tbh never liked Disney princess movies growing up... I could always sense that they were feeding kids this toxic, idealistic version of romance like it was normal...

I’m also going to try reading this book because I really want to start finishing the ones I already own instead of constantly buying new ones that seem more interesting. I’ve had this one for quite a while back from when I first started reading a lot more and since then, my reading tastes have changed quite a bit. It’s not as appealing to me now as it probably was back then, but I still want to give it a fair chance.

I'm going to try rereading this for the third time. There's nothing inherently wrong with it, I was actually quite enjoying it. It used to be my treadmill book that I listened to, but since I was probably doing two things at once, I couldn’t focus properly or engage with the story. And since I'm still in a massive reading slump, it just fell off again. So here I go, giving it another try from the beginning.

Ngl, this is quickly going from a 4 to a 3. I’ll have to sit with it, unless something really good comes along to make me forget all its flaws and bump it back up. I’ve never read R. F. Kuang in this register before, this definitely feels new, and it’s extremely odd, almost like two different writers wrote this book. I really love the idea of them going to hell and save Grimes, but chap 20? Hell no.

I'm sorry?! WHAT?! IN THE R. F. KUANG?! GURL WHAT? WHAT DID I JUST READ?! I'm... gonna have to process chapter twenty.

What I love most about R. F. Kuang’s books is that romance is never the focus. The Poppy War had little of it, and Babel none. This new book leans more on a romantic subplot, which isn’t my preference, but her real strength lies in how she blends knowledge into the narrative and weaves characters’ emotions so deeply into the story. Seems to be lovers, to enemies to lovers? If she ends up developing it, which I doubt.

I'm so excited to read yet another work of one of my fav female authors! First thing I saw at the book store instantly bought! I was so excited for this release, I hope I love it as much as the other ones.
