Sittenfeld's protagonist's are so annoyingly passive. This narrator just talked about how her colleague said that beautiful women aren't good writers and vice versa, and instead of telling him to go fuck himself with a cactus, she says "I'd pretend to need a refill but really I just want to get away from you." Wow, you sure showed him. It's the 90s, get angry!
