Orion is on page 25 of 144 of The ABCs of Socialism
"Democratic values are hollow so long as one class of citizens takes priority over all others."

One of the most graceful and encapsulating critiques of capitalism and oligarchy I think I've ever heard.

Orion is on page 166 of 274 of Assata: An Autobiography
Perhaps one of the most important books I've read in 2025 with the culmination of roughly 250 years of United States hegemony, and the country now facing the full and unveiled consequences of it's accumulating violence.

Only halfway through though 😅

One chapter in and I can already tell this book is a must-read for anyone remotely involved in politics, human rights, and the like

Just finished chapter 2! It explains very interesting parallels to the Covid-19 pandemic with the Black Plague using cats as imagery. Cats were massacred, stopping the best line of defense against the plague, not dissimilar to the overworking of essential workers and constant stigma against them in the current United States.

Finished chapter 1, and it's so far extremely digestible and easy to follow, especially for a book on theory and related to economic ideas (in this case, communism).

"As kings and nobles who rule in the feudal mode of production become signified by the lion, that other feline, the domestic cat, appears as a threat precisely because it is so similar."

Though I'm still building my knowledge of the language and culture, the translations are great and easy to follow. It's so far fascinating to read the English translations of pre-colombian Nahuatl songs and poetry
