AUDIOBOOK ~ Just started this audiobook but can already give this five stars! It’s clever, funny and brilliantly acted by the awesome narrator, Scott Aieoolo!

If you enjoyed the Michael J Fox movie, The Froghteners, then you’ll love this as the only difference is the con-man estate agent!

I love to read and be whisked away to another time and place, if only for the length of the book. Take Me Away, Scribe! 📚

If you love stories about WW1 then you will love this book.

It’s a detailed story about people working as soldiers, stretcher-carriers, nurses, medics, ambulance drivers, trench diggers….. it also has the story from the point of view of those at home in England worrying about whether their sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers will come home.

So far I’m not enjoying this book at all!

The way it’s written is very dull as it’s mostly narrative and, even when the author goes to meet the wives of the missing men, their memories being told are in narrative format rather than a conversation.

I’m finding it very frustrating and so dull that I keep putting it down to do something more exciting….. like hanging the washing out!

I do not pull any punches! If a book is BAD then I’m not afraid to say it! Authors Beware! 😄

The story is ok but the editing is appalling!! All the words spelt wrong or double line spaced between words which are all part of one sentence! Absolutely atrocious editing! Makes it so slow and difficult to read!

Easy to put down and forget, so far. Not great but I will persevere!

THE BOOK TITKE IS ACTUALLY “EIGHT DETECTIVES” so it’s incorrect on Good Reads

Audiobook starring the late Ian Carmichael as Lord Peter Wimsey who is excellent!

Listening to this full cast audiobook is wonderful and really brings the characters to life.
