Graham is on page 29 of 256 of The Peregrine
“I have turned away from the musky opulence of the summer woods, where so many birds are are dying. Autumn begins my season of of hawk-hunting, spring ends it, winter glitters between the two like the arch of Orion” (from The Peregrine, p29).... I know i am going to love this book.

New year. New book. just going for 30 books this year to make time for other things. Might even read more ambitious things rather than novels!

Delightful so far. Delightful. When an alien turns up and *you* see it as a human, but everyone else sees it as a dog, who then gives the smallest sister a proper working light sabre on her birthday..... and that's just in the opening chapters. Great fun. Looking forward to more of this madcap book.

Kefitzat Haderech. Because you cannot have too many steals from Jewish mythology, even though Dune got there first. Hohum!

I'm sure Iris Murdoch read dictionaries for fun, found obscure words, and then wrote books just to include them. I'll just say this is "rebarbative" and slope away again.

This is a glorious book, with multiple stories flitting between times and locations. Lovely writing, hypnotic.

Mixed bunch, but Revenant is best so far with House on the Hill in second place. Many of these I'm thinking 'could be better'

Started this a three days ago, and since the beloved is poorly, I've been reading two stories to herself at bed time as a nightcap.

Man this is a turgid book. The only highlight so far is that the author has used άπαξ λεγόμενον which is the first time I've seen that. And in Greek too!

Slow morning as misty, so reading. Love this book: feeling Gaiman winking and nudging "geddit?" as a character is introduced or speaks. Brilliant.
