Karen is reading Soul Sacrifice: The Santana Story
Reading this for comparison with Santana's Universal Tone, it has been confusing at times but this book fills in some details chronologically that are good to know.

Taking some time to savor and understand, tale does take a winding trail. Enjoying all his anecdotes of his interactions with other musicians.

Having not been a fan, this is all new to me and I am enjoying his narration of the tales.

This book is fascinating and disturbing at the same time. I can only listen to a couple of chapters at a time because it upsets me. But I have to know how he made it out of that hell hole of a childhood, so on I go.

Took me a bit of time to get here, had to start over after a break. I have to say I have laughed more in this one so far than any of the others, Vic is cracking me up.
Walt is now on the trail in earnest, will finish this soon, need to know what happens to the painting.

Really struggling with this one, have only read it one time and I don't have fond memories. However, I have read The first Book of Dust and the second in that series takes place after the events of Amber Spyglass so I need a refresher.

It is just a strange book, hope I can finish it soon.

Stalled on this one a while ago. The first story was odd, not really funny. I was looking forward to the P. G. Wodehouse but haven't finished it yet. Not as good as Jeeves and Wooster. Will skip to the last one and see if it gets better.

I have always meant to read this book and started it as part of a reading challenge. I kept reading a bit and then letting it sit, why I don't know. It may be that some of the members of my online group were dismissive of the story.

Now in light of all that is going on with the virus, I am warming to the story. Comparison of the Civil War times with now is apparent. Enjoying the banter with the sisters.

A re-read and I am not enjoying this at all. There are two plot points that make this book's plot simply ridiculous and annoying in the extreme. I wish that this series had a much better finale and how I miss Claire and the Mopsies.

Been reading in fits and starts. He's the Mayor now and learning to adjust to the demands of the office. He writes very well, it flows nicely.

Started this finally after re-reading the 3 other books in the series, it takes up right where the last left off. Not sure what to make of it, seems off somehow...not what I expected.

Starting out good, he's at Harvard and learning to navigate the "big" city while getting to meet famous people. Going into history first with politics second. Good start.

Glad there was follow up on the ending of Fire and Ice. Starting to get a bit tired of the cliched insults, some are from good ol' boys (can't help themselves I guess) but Joanna is getting a bit bitchy...just saying.

Actually enjoying this one, Beaumont has actually improved, his new wife obviously has something to do with it. Still cringed when he and Joanna spoke over the phone, remembering their last encounter...sheesh.

It has taken me some fits and starts to begin this again, now I have come to the real meat of the story. It is moving along at a faster rate. I have to say I had forgotten a lot of the story, the party at Thornfield was a surprise, I didn't remember Jane being present for it all.
I still have the same impatience with Jane that I did the first time around but will continue on to see her trials to come.

I know I read this a couple of years ago but it got left off my book list. Checked out the audio to listen and got sucked into it very fast. This is the book where we first meet Jim Chee. Very good, but I forgot what a mean person Mary Landon is!

Starting to remember why I liked this book so much, it takes a little time to get moving but is worth the wait. The humor is what makes it for me, so many literary jokes and goofy names. Fun!

Never managed to finish this one but I am starting again..liked the author when I heard him on a radio program and I bought the book.

Like his analogy of people tapping you on the shoulder (i.e. all the pings you get from your electronic devices and social media).

I'm not a Gaiman fan, I didn't finish American Gods, someone I know recommended this to me so I thought I would try again. I have been struggling for 3 months to listen to the book and I just keep stopping it because it is not enjoyable. I have to say he has created some of the most odious characters and the story is creeping me out. I've come this far and hoped it would improve but it isn't.
