Wow. So we’re not going to talk about the brutality and islamophobic underpinnings of the crusades? Just frame the crusaders as “protectors.” All the slaughtering of children, rape, and butchery by european christians are just not going to come up. Oh-KAAAAAY.

This is giving spurious argument vibes. (Like accepting the Milgram experiment at face value. It was an unethical experiment and bad science with likely falsified results)

So far this is a timely Pride month read, as we go through the annual rainbow-washing.

So far this book is great. I don’t read a lot of whodunits, but this has plenty of small town intrigue and detail.

We’ll see if I can hang in there, the protagonist is insufferable and it started out with this “tee-hee, the vicar lisps!” gag.
It just generally smacks of a lack of self-examination and privilege so far.

Ok, Cameron’s pity party is starting to be funny. Maybe the octopus will slap him?

Wow, these humans all feel really sorry for themselves. Octopus is definitely carrying the load.

We just got to the start of the pandemic, and this book is amazing. Completely captures the confusion and hoarding and shock.

This book is really good but slow going for me. It’s been awhile since I read literature, and there is a lot to see here.

Pollux’s vision of heaven is the best, I’m going to get right on that.

Really beautiful and also profoundly sad.

Half-listening at this time, this has strong man blog energy

I’m glad I didn’t quit when the description of a pointless life in retail started to get me down.

Is the tension between the selves sexual? Wild. What happened to the physical symptoms? Is there more body horror to come?

Oh great, the protagonist has anger issues too? And feels entitled to his gf? I want to like this but it’s got downsides in common with Twilight and HP.

Whoa, no kidding on the title! I feel like I’m being plunged into a second book in a series but nope, I checked, this is #1.

The deep-voiced narrator’s renditions of female characters cracks me up. I’m hoping for a lot of personal growth from Evander and loving the different family relationships.

If this doesn’t end happily I shall riot.
