My least favorite book of the series. Unfortunately it was repetitive and the driving themes just felt limited to me given the scale of themes in the other five books.

I gave up 40 pages in. It reads like a personal essay about autistic burnout dressed up as an underwater fantasy. I liked the song it’s based on and the concept of the book but could not get into it. I did enjoy Rivers Solomon’s other book An Unkindness of Ghosts.
