Curcurim, the main active compound in turmeric, is poorly absorbed on its own, but when combined with black pepper extract (Piperine), it is absorbed 1000x more. When purchasing turmeric/curcurim supplements, choose the ones with at least 500mg curcurim and added Piperine.
