This is really trying to tell two different stories at the same time but they have nothing to do with each other. At least, not directly. As such, there are FAR too many characters to try and remember, two world systems and workings to flip between and a complex world building that needs tons of memory space to follow...

I'm always sceptical of a book that has this many pages, and while some can make sense, others don't. After getting 100 pages in, I am realising that world building is encyclopaedic and slows the current momentum. It jumps around a bit and goes back in time for long stretches,while also going from character to character. I can see much that could have been cut, or more organic. LOTS to absorb for world building too
