I wish Goodreads would list other editions! Sometimes I dislike having the movie tie-in book cover shown... I’m reading the 1976 edition with a great 70’s cover.

Struggling a bit as the (white male) author is writing from the first-person perspective of a non-white young woman. It’s not believable. The story is interesting enough so I’ll persevere a bit longer...

Finally getting to this book. Really enjoying the writing so far. "His ears were moving in a slow, oscillatory manner, rather in the way John Wayne's shoulders moved when he walked; my father was grinding his teeth."
