Still deciding what I think...not much world building and the romantic factor is not knocking me over yet

My middle grade son was struggling with this book and so I started reading it to him. He gave up and feels like its over his head; however, now I'm reading it on my own and I think its wonderful! Very suspenseful and compelling characters

This is great! Wish it would have been considered in the Slains series as book 1.5 so I knew to read it before #2. Not a big deal. Its still fun to meet Robbie as a boy!

Took me a while to get into this, but now I really really like it. I can see why Kearsley has been compared to Diana Gabaldon -- amazing writing style.

I'm flyin' through book #2 as quickly as the first one!

So so wonderful! I am consumed. This is the most similar to Outlander of anything I've read in the last six years. Fantastic!

Holy freakin' dramatic! This author takes the personal drama scale to the next level! Right when you think you know where it's going... BAM some other bomb drops.

This is me last night, went to read a few pages and DANG one suspenseful moment after another! Had to make sure my characters were okay!

Wonderful! Very Outlander'ish!

Well this book has definitely gone in different directions than I thought, but that's Paullina Simons for you! Nothing is ever simple.

Paullina Simons does it again. I'm riveted and obsessively reading. I'm not sure why I care about these rather obnoxious teenagers but Simons brings us along on their journey by capturing human emotion and insecurities so well.

Holy cow, I'm taking a time-out to read a summary of book #2 to remember what the heck is going on!

So it turns out that what I actually read the other day on my phone's Nook app was a sample of her new book, Strange the Dreamer, which comes out March 2017! Somehow I started on that sample which is included at the end of this book... and it was AMAZING! I can't believe I have to wait until 2017 to continue that story!

Wow, what writing! Laini Taylor is something special!

Wonderful! I cried during the prologue; it was so beautifully written.

Disappointing. Let's finish this sucker and move on...

BORING SMORING

I'm enjoying it, but its not nearly as complex as the other books. It follows a few main characters, and provides no backstories for any supporting characters. This is definitely not to the level of Tamworth #2 and #3.

Two other long and wonderful books with these characters, and now I get to enjoy this prequel about the youth of Grandmama and Richard -- A.W.E.S.O.M.E.

This one gets into slavery and revolution, but sex and scandal are still there too! I can see why Diana Gabaldon gave her positive reviews -- she has the same gift of mixing complex history with very personal storytelling.

I'm chugging along, but this one is quite dull compared to #1 and 2.

GREAT. I think her books are so entertaining because you get to hear what nearly every character is thinking and where they’re coming from – something we never get to experience in real life. Karleen Koen is a wonderful historical fiction writer; as an Outlander fan I'm so glad I found her!

Very entertaining! The excesses of the upper crust -- power, lust, and no moral scruples.

Clearly an addictive read! I'm in quite a conundrum; I LOVE all 3 books I'm reading at the moment. Not a bad problem to have!

I've just raced through the last 100pgs! The interpersonal drama and cattiness is like candy!

I'm picturing Roger as Henry Cavill from The Tutors. Wrong time period, but you get the idea. Hopefully Roger doesn't go bad or else I'll have to do a casting change!

Hmmm, it's good writing. Lots of catty aristocratic spoiled folks trying to stay above water--whatever it takes. So far everyone is pretty unlikeable though.
