Well, she certainly packed it all into this story. Civil War, house burnings, espionage, a voyage to Africa ending in shipwreck, deserted islands, an elopement, wow. I guess she wasn't going to let her young readers go without adventure simply because here characters were female. Wow.

I have a book by this author that i bought years ago from like the early 1900s, I understand she was fairly prolific. That particular book is not yet available through Project Gutenberg so I'm reading this one instead.

Reading every couple of lines again and again is really making my eyes tired.
