I knew it was coming and I'm still fucking mad about it. Doesn't matter how gently you try to frame her actions and her perspective of the situation. This was rape. I've heard the Netflix adaptation is more egregious, but I haven't seen it yet. I'm super disappointed by this. The characters are fun and the writing is silly, and then bam - your main character is a rapist.

The casual racism in Ch15 is distasteful and irritating. This sort of micro-aggression adds nothing to the authenticity of the time period, and the anecdote would have easily worked without a racist caricature of a "Mandarin" conjurer.
