finished the babel-17 half!!

i'm rereading this from the beginning loll; it's been too long since i started and i need to be able to discuss it in detail for the upcoming three person book-club + barbecue + mini photo-shoot

talking at length about how this guy has never had an std immediately followed up 'inevitably, he caught my cold' is very funny to me but why did they have him find out about modern contraception while caring for a sick person

the romance feels so odd to me... she seems to resent any contact graham has with the outside world that is not mediated through her. esp that line where she talks about being a lens? and the one where she compares her anxiety to a parent's? surely they will unpack this later 👍
i dont totally get where graham's romantic interest is going to come from since the narrator keeps all her interesting bits internal

this book stresses me out So much.

the strength of this book lies in the author's ability to create characters with very distinct and believable points of view. the worldbuilding feels a little bit goofy to me but that might be a personal hangup i have with mafia stories
