I want this book to be as good as it sounds but good god... this is a struggle.

This... this is good. Love a good "disaster" story!

I like, but struggle, with books like this. The premise and plot are super cool, but I have trouble being immersed in some sci-fi and fantasy plots. I have aphantasia, so if it's not something I know, I can't really picture it. IT can really take me out of the story, and I give up pretty easily then. But I want to try to struggle my way through this book.

Wow. Barely into the book and we're already talking about blue waffles and stds the promiscuous women of high school will give you.

Real quote, not even exaggerating: "Do you know what that means? Turing you out? It means they will try to make you, for lack of better words, their bitch."

"It's true!" agrees his mom. And then goes on to describe and ask the doctor, "That's called a gangbang, right doctor?"

WHAT?

This. is. a. slog. I want to finish but, man.

When the abuse victim trades one possessive boy for another, but it's okay, because Sam's anger is protective, not malicious! And he frowns disapprovingly and comments on how short your shorts are... Rory. Honey. Those are red flags.

As soon as I started reading this, I was like, "What is this, Twilight Fanfiction?"

Oh. Well, hell, I'm in too deep, now.

Jordan is a dick, and Courtney is kind of insufferable. I guessed the "twist" already, so... it's kind of a struggle to keep reading when you don't like the MCs!

Really dumb. Jeez.

You dumb girl...

Good. God. This is one unlikeable protagonist. Like, really, Erin. Can you pull that giant stick out of your (tightly puckered) ass long enough to enjoy something? Or, you know, learn something about the world and yourself and grow and change as a person? WHICH I HOPE IS THE POINT OF THIS BOOK OTHERWISE I WILL BE SO MAD.

Not really digging the female MC's "he's my boyfriend, let ME worry about him" mentality when it comes to her pursuing/kissing the male MC. (From memory, but that may be a direct quote. For real? Not cool, girl.)

One of the characters constantly jokes that the MC is too dumb to stay alive on his own. It's not even a joke, because he is constantly doing stupid stuff like STANDING UP AND WAVING HIS ARMS AT GUNMEN. Dude, how did you survive the ash-pocalypse this long?
