This is an aspect I sorely dislike about omegaverse, treating omegas as little more than slaves, a bargaining chip that has no power over their own life. The pack treats Brad with a bit more care than that but the world overall is still ruled this way and even now, knowing this is just a way to get the second MC to his future mate? I am NOT happy. The end doesn't justify the means when the journey is the destination.

Luna should been there to offer a reader's perspective - why would a guy be interested in the bad guy? Let me read you the heaps of fanfiction to explain it to you, jocks. In modern romance, the line between "he needs to be unalived" and morally grey hot jerk who can be just on the right side of sweet and bossy? Very thin.

"What the hell, I did say I'd do anything to get out of finals." These are the moments that make this so interesting, mostly by being absurd. And hey, Brad's having a main character being too nice for their own good that will probably turn out to be the right choice moment! Go Brad!

He is doing better than some alphas but some of his ideas and behaviour... ew.

That's the thing romance doesn't properly address - the true horror/trauma of what happens to the MC. Can you imagine being told you can get pregnant? As a guy? And the book just... sweeps it away with all the lust and Brad's need to accept his new circumstances and his growing feelings for the occasionally-A-hole of an alpha. Because the moment you address it, you realise that's not romance, but a horror story.

Yeah, right, grabbing lube when the mood strikes him? What a terrible inconvenience. That's the manly attitude we love - being grateful their favourite spot is self-lubricating. And while they didn't exactly skip the prep, the way it's described... definitely getting a bit closer to the romance tropes you were mocking and will still make fun of? Rings any bells? I guess smut just... doesn't count. Sigh.

I knew reindeers couldn't be real 😂. He's such a bro. But mostly in a cute way. He's a... like a feminist bro? But still makes some stupid comments to make him real? So he is both likable and bro-ish? Good job, either way.

ROFL!!! This is why I gave this 4 stars. Making fun of modern romance while also admitting we might still enjoy the potentially trashy content, the pleasure of reading in general and that absurd bro-mentality of the MC?? This is my kind of fun!

I might just be done. Briar is being unsufferable but more than that, I dislike the way Alex handles it. People talk about triggers and such but what about being triggered by the MC being a doormat? Why does no one warn about that???! That triggers me like nothing else. Her standing up for herself and then going back to accepting the abuse? Giving me hope just to smash it? Wll, *I* won't stand for this.

I cannot say how frustrated this turn of events make me but to give you an idea: I'd be actually happy if Fey McHotAgent kidnapped Alex into Fairy until this mess blows over. I disliked Brian All-Brawn for some time now but she is now competing with the Winter _itch for most unpopular. She's not a modern Witcher, she's like The Order (from KD). That's not a compliment.

Hear me out, ok - I think the author doesn't know how to do this any more than Alex does. Relationship? Light pillow talk? They go to sleep!!! instead of doing literally anything else. Well, Alex goes to sleep but she didn't see him in a week, so after one question, that, btw, low blow, she goes to sleep like normal. He has so little time with her and she "blows it". So, yeah, Price doesn't know what to do with them

Actually, I just thought of another problem this relationship has. A proper urban-fantasy love interest and future spouse is an asset. He must be worthy, powerful enough to keep up with our kick-ass heroine. Death does not qualify, despite all his superpowers. He did save her and helped in ways I don't actually like but mostly, he's dead weight. Pun intended.

I think this is another probem with the romance I didn't consider - there was no romancing. Even now that Alex has chosen, we didn't actually get to see how their relationship came to be so I am not as attached to it. I think he is a good love interest but I don't feel the spark as much as if I actually saw it develop.

Now Alex explained logically why she shouldn't continue with the case and suggested the best course of action - hand it over to the police - when talking with her client. Which makes me think she will end up doing the opposite and going into uncertain danger that already makes her a suspect in several murder cases. Sigh... I am not not okay with her doing that but sometimes, it would be nice to see it.

You know what's your problem, girl? There's an action scene unfolding right before your eyes and you think this is the right moment to explain magical theory and things we already know by now. I am kinda stressed here and you think I want to hear about things YOU ALREADY TOLD ME. Maybe some readers forgot those things. Maybe you should trust your audience more. Either way, this is interrupting my flow! You flow too!

I get what you're saying but I disagree with the conclusion - vampires may see humas as prey because they, more than other TI, feed from them and need them to survive but that's the difference - most TI see humans as a side snack and when they're done, the human is dead. For vampires, humas are like... cows =D, they should be interested in keeping them around, alive. Not really a prey. Domestic animals.

There's nothing inherently wrong with short chapters but this is too much - instead of one tense scene, we get to see... depending on where you start counting, one very important scene was broken into 5 POVs (Vicky, Angie, Grimshaw, Julian, Ilia) that actually overlapped (!!) and switched places and why would someone do this?!

Oh no, the main human is being left alone, the doors are locked, the intuit has a bad feeling, nothing bad could possibly happen when she knows it's coming, right?? I've seen this one before and it's not any more interesting the second time around.

This is the kind of book where the main character is told to "get over herself" and I agree with the sentiment. She is a good main character by several standards but like Meg, she can be a bit too...

WHAT is the point of the "enemie's" POVs??? What?!? You only get to hear their nasty thoughts and language about everyone you like, you get information that spoil any surprise or plot twist they might have caused and when they no longer serve their purpose, you can "see" them get punished, which, being a normal human being, I don't enjoy, the punishment being brutal and usually fatal.

And this!!! What is THIS??? Why are they protecting "the bad humas"?? Risking their lives and their relationship with TI??? This makes no sense.

Here's what bothers me about the setup of not just this book but the whole series/world: the bad guys come with all their human guns and laws and nastiness - Terra Indigene swat them and they are dead. Problem solved. But of course that would make the book last 3 not 13 hours so they make elaborate zig-zigaing that raises my blood pressure until someone can swat them dead. Why? WHY?! There are better ways to do this.

A bit random thought but I feel weirdly proud to know DOA means dead on arrival. English is my second (third?) language and while I think I am fluent, knowing these extra special words like SAC or COD (yes, I read detective/mystery) feels a bit special, like I am moving onto a level beyond a learner or student.

I... don't like this. This is about the parts I didn't like in the previous series. I think the book is trying to go for a "cor cozie" or whatever was the term, where a human with the help of TIs solves crimes but this... simple and simply bad characters doing bad things to nice people. Ughr. Where's some nuance or depth?

Another MC who won't have sex on page or maybe ever, I get it, book, you didn't have to make the reason so... dramatic and traumatic.

Sproingers - rats - Australia - I was a bit slow on the uptake but you're teeling me The Others can turn into the smiling cuties??? What are they ... Quokka! What an interesting addition and, it seems, an alternative to crows in terms of purpose in a TI community?? Listening to everything? Too small to be noticed?

This feels stupid. I understand what it is accomplishing for the plot, but EVERYones makes a HUGE fuss about Meg and Meg's safety anytime she so much as sneezes or has some facial expression they don't understand but suddenly it's possible for her to get kidnapped. Right under everyone's nose. The book didn't need this part and I don't like the way it's handled.

Officers, we have shots fire and a right truth bomb delivered by a human woman to a wolf. Who took a step back. Damn. It took the author a long time to set up scenes like this but this might be my favourite book of the series yet! The other books aren't bad but this now feels like really good writing.
