Ugh. I don’t like generally like pirate or seafaring stories.
I miss Fitz and his world, I don’t support this side journey away from them. But I’m told I have to read this Live Ship trilogy, its place in the Realm of the Elderlings will become clear. It feels a bit like being made to eat cauliflower before I’m allowed dessert.

This is a fascinating look into the writers process. I’m Reading it in tandem with East of Eden. To avoid spoilers I read the relevant parts of EoE first then read the corresponding entries / letters some time afterwards.

My current audio. It’s going slowly because I’m not in car so much this week and don’t feel compelled to pick up the physical book when I’m not driving

Re read before seeing the movie

Not my cup of tea. Interesting premise and beautifully written, but the Choose Your Own Adventure style of the set up wasn’t for me.

Eek! I’m only in the first chapter and I’m already yelling at the book. “ don’t let them in. Haven’t you seen Sinners? “ and I don’t even know if the family who show up and ask for a tour because they used to live here are bad or as innocent as they seem.

Trying again to get into this

Rereading this because I’ve totally forgotten everything about the plot since I read it a few years ago. I do remember that it was 5 star read and I loved it. That part still holds true and now that the trilogy is complete I can read them all without having to remember the plot of the previous book.

Failed the 2019 reading challenge miserably so my response is to set a higher goal for next year. I couldn’t read 50 ( or even 40) in 2019 but I will try to read 60 in 2020.
I never thought I’d have to make “read more” one of my New Years resolutions but sometimes a reading slump happens I guess.

I'm reading this with (not to) Lucy. We each have a copy. It's a great intro to the mysterious benefactor genre and just all round delightful.

Now that I'm getting close ( ish) to the end I find myself slowing down in order to prolong the experience.

My kindle says I have only 5 hrs left til I finish this book. I'm sure that's a gross understatement.

I'm reading this concurrently with watching the new BBC adaptation. I read, then watch the visual of what I just read. I'm finding it hard to put the book down long enough to watch it.

I'm making myself read this before watching the new BBC adaptation. It's a much easier read than I expected. Tolstoy has made this story more compelling than Anna Karennina, the plot moves along faster the characters are more alive in my mind though maybe this is just a superior translation.
