I did enjoy the rage. A whole star for it though Madame Cath never takes any accountability for her actions throughout the book

Maybe because I like Alice in Wonderland both the book and the first movie so much I find this deplorable.

I absolutely like none of the characters. Cath is so dumb. The whimsy from the likeness of the world is subpar. The romance irritating. The plot predictable and the shocking bits of it underwhelming.

Can this book end???

A very high 3.5 because I’ll always be a sucker for gory fairytales.

The writing was atmospheric and gave fairytale vibes. Though some of the boys behaviours were a bit contradictory, I’ll excuse it.

Also him being an unreliable narrator made it good. The ending couldn’t have been more perfect.

She dead, innit? That’s why we never see her interact with anyone else? That’s the only logical explanation

The more I read this book, the more I think of The Raven Boys. Maybe it’s the atmospheric writing or that they are in an academy.

This book is so cringe. The dialogue is tougher than stale bread. Oh boy

Some themes are my favorite kind and I certainly liked the bleakness of the general ending.

I fear this book will leave me in ruins. How can this be book 1 of a five part series? It’s so good. Sure there are povs I hate but it all blends so well.
