Short chapters are pretty annoying.

Wow, for the life of me I can't tell why this book was written. I mean, stuff is happening, but there doesn't seem to have a point. This reads more like a denouement that was expanded than an actual novel. This book has, so far, lost its way. Really there is no point, it is merely fluffing up details.

A third of the way through the book and I am still waiting for the plot to start. It is mostly beings having sex, thinking about sex or discussing sex. Then of course there is the people wanting to have sex but won't tell their partner they want to have sex even though sex is in the middle of everything. There is a plot... right?

So far this is checking all the science buttons that I was hoping for!

Yes, I am reading it again. And most of my critisisms from the first read are still valid about the book. But the system is what you make of it. Can I make something of it????

Not sure I will be able to finish this one. The main character is sooo petulant and acts like she is 13 instead of 18. Add the silly romance/love triangle and it gets hard to read. The non-romance stuff is slow and boring so it isn't keeping it interesting.

Silly sounds

Not really enjoying all the sound effects. Sometimes it overwhelms the story.

Starting off as a jumbled mess. Also pretty crude, came as a surprise after the The Others series.

I hope this isn't like "Mad about you" when they had the baby and I couldn't relate to the humor .

Sigh, another one of those protagonists that are unlikable. Let's hope this is a growth story... and quickly!

I like big books (and I cannot lie).... But like the previous 2 in this series I get to this point and think "please be over." Then you think it reaches a climax but then keeps going (really long denouement). Make it stop!!

They are not bad books. Just they aren't all that! Started this when I finished Thrive and didn't have anything else handy. :/

Lori asked if I have read this and I thought I had when it first came out. But I am drawing a blank... so here we go!

None of the characters are very likable, even Emily seems fairly stiff and a bit self-consumed. Perhaps that is just time period and locale (Regency England).

The end of Steelheart made me want answers. I am excited that David will be finding those answers for us!
