I think this is the first book I’ve read that actually acknowledges the Japanese being forced into concentration camps during WWII. Angelou’s observations of how Black Americans viewed this as a time to seize opportunity while remaining indifferent towards the Asians who disappeared during this time is profound. You can tell it was important to her to acknowledge this narrative as part of her story & many others

Everyone reads Maas’s books to read smut, but she really knows how to write disgusting torture, too.

The protagonist may have agreed to lose five years of his life going back in time, but I did not agree to losing five years of my life just trying to get through this book 🙄 it just DRAGS on. I don’t even feel like the background stuff with Oswald and his wife and the other cronies are building to anything. I’m just getting the ick from this book

This book is boring as hell and I just can’t get behind it but I’m going to finish it to feel accomplished or something i don’t know
