It was bittersweet to finally read this entry in Ruth’s memoirs. This was a really challenging, transitional period for her in so many ways and there was lots of heartbreak. It isn’t that I didn’t feel that in her other books, but not to the degree of this one. I imagine it was a tough book to write. But in spite of all of the endings and struggle, there were also beginnings that I recognize. That’s life.
